Originally from Spain, she has a Ph.D. in Biology, and have also published four nonfiction books on drugs and diseases with Facts on File: Mad Cow Disease, Heroin, Lung Cancer and Ritalin, and three short animation scripts for children and one on asthma for a Pharmaceutical Company.
She holds diplomas on “Writing for Children and Teenagers” and “Writing and Selling Children’s Books” from the Institute of Children Literature, USA.
She taught Spanish at George School, Newtown, PA and AP Biology and Spanish at the New Hope Academy, PA.
Bilingual Presentations
Carmen Ferreiro-Esteban offers bilingual presentations and workshops, which can be adapted for upper elementary through high school levels.
The presentations fit the Reading, Language Arts, Spanish, Sciences and Social Studies curricula, and are offered both in English and Spanish.
Depending on the audience, the focus is on different topics, including aspects of the craft of creative writing; her writing journey; inspiration for her books; her experiences coming to the States and living in a new country, learning another language; how to use her books in the classroom; and other topics upon request.
Because she have been a freelance translator and interpreter for over 15 years, she also offer, for the upper grades, a practical look at these two promising careers.
Presentations range from 45 minutes to an hour. Half-day visits begin at $250 (for up to three hours); full day visits at $400 (up to five hours), plus travel costs.
